We’ve been told to expect Alberta Clippers this winter. That means snow storms and then frigid temperatures. We’ve had two so far. Thankful for our wood stove and an ample supply of firewood.

The camera can see the aurora better than my eyes can. Amazing!

…warm days, cool nights and the distinct smell of fallen leaves which have begun to cover the ground…signs of autumn.

What started out six years ago as an off grid summer cabin has been transformed into a year-round home. My husband has worked all summer to build an addition onto the original building, finish the interior throughout and with the help of a couple of professionals we have electricity and plumbing. Wonderful! Although it was fun to live off grid for a few months each year…it was time to modernize.

The two peacocks belong to the neighbor and came visiting recently. The owl took down a wild pigeon this morning. Not long ago we had a momma and 4 baby pigs in the garden. We had a woodchuck earlier in the summer. And we’ve had several deer roaming around the place. What will we see next?

Summer at the cabin…

We love watching and listening to the birds who call our yard home. Many we do not see, but we hear them…Goldfinches, Orioles, Least Flycatcher, Ovenbird, Veery, Song Sparrow, Yellow-throated Vireo, Robins, and more. Occasionally, the Pileated Woodpecker flies through the yard. A scarlet tanager showed up one day.
It is fun to be entertained by nature and reminded of the One who created it all!
