The grandsons think it’s a special occasion when they can pick wild berries with Papa. Just have to get to the vines before the bear does. We have enjoyed blueberries and now raspberries. Will wait eagerly for the blackberries coming later.

A grandson helped carry water from the pond to the garden. Big job for a little guy.

As I travel through Minnesota this summer, I have crossed the Mississippi River many times. I’m on a journey of prayer for my state. I study some history of the counties I go to and I read news of the area. I claim Minnesota for Jesus! Lord, we need You!

Shortly after our pond was dug my husband spotted a turtle in it. For some unknown reason he named the turtle Mitch. (Not to be confused with my nephew with the same name.) Every spring since we expect to see Mitch in the pond. A few days ago I ran into Mitch on the driveway. He was not interested in conversation so I took this picture and left him alone. Welcome home, Mitch.

Makes me think of the book I wrote titled Nelson’s Pond. The critters in the book tell their own story. Kids love it! Consider it for summer reading for your elementary age kids. Available on Amazon. Search: Ardith Nelson for all my titles.
